The South West Education Division (SWED) held a prestigious award ceremony today at the Malawi University of Business and Applied Science (MUBAS) in Blantyre to celebrate the exceptional performance of students and teachers in the 2024 Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations. A total of 52 students and 57 teachers were honoured for their hard work and dedication in achieving excellence.
The event recognized the academic achievements of students from various categories, including Community Day Secondary Schools (CDSS), day conventional schools, district boarding schools, and national secondary schools. In the CDSS category, which recognizes students from community day schools, Mirriam Dickson from Mphande CDSS in Mwanza was lauded as the top female performer, scoring an impressive 15 points in the MSCE exams. Her dedication and hard work made her an outstanding role model for her peers.
On the male side, Chembekezo Steward from Phwadzi CDSS emerged as the top-performing male student, with an excellent score of 12 points. His achievement underscores the quality of education and the impact of committed teaching at community day schools in the region.
The event also acknowledged the tireless efforts of teachers who played a crucial role in the success of these students. A total of 57 teachers received awards for their dedication and exceptional teaching contributions. These educators have not only imparted knowledge but have also been mentors, guiding their students through challenges to help them reach their academic potential.
The recognition of these teachers highlights the integral role they play in shaping the future of Malawi’s education system. It is a testament to their hard work, passion, and commitment to fostering academic excellence.
Apart from the CDSS category, awards were also given to students from day conventional schools, district boarding schools, and national secondary schools. The students from these institutions were recognized for their exceptional performance in the 2024 MSCE examinations, which reflects the high standards maintained in these schools.
The awards for these diverse categories emphasize that excellence can be achieved across all types of educational institutions, whether in urban or rural settings, and whether in public or private schools.
The ceremony was a celebration of success, but it also served as a reminder of the ongoing need to invest in education in Malawi. By recognizing both students and teachers, SWED has set a benchmark for future educational achievements, inspiring others to work even harder towards academic success.
The success of these students and teachers serves as an encouragement for other learners and educators across the country, showing that with dedication and commitment, excellent results are possible.
As the ceremony concluded, there was a collective sense of pride and optimism for the future. The recognition of these students and teachers is not just about celebrating past achievements; it is about motivating others to aim higher and achieve greater success in the years to come. The award recipients are a shining example of what is possible when determination, support, and hard work align.
In conclusion, the 2024 MSCE awards ceremony held at MUBAS was a fitting tribute to the outstanding academic achievements of both students and teachers from the South West Education Division.
