On Monday, 25 November, the Mpherere Roman Catholic Youth in Ntchisi District donated various assorted items to inmates at the district’s prison. The gesture was aimed at addressing some of the challenges faced by the prisoners.
Speaking during the donation, Joyce Mapulanga, the chairperson for the youth group, explained the motivation behind the initiative. “This move has been done as a way of alleviating the challenges which prisoners encounter,” she said.
The donated items included relish, cooking oil, soap, and other essential supplies intended to improve the living conditions of the inmates.
Giralive Kalowekamo, the spokesperson for the prison facility, expressed gratitude to the youth for their support. “We commend the youth for this timely donation. It will make a significant difference for the inmates,” he said.
The donation underscored the importance of community support in addressing the needs of vulnerable groups, and the youth group vowed to continue engaging in similar charitable activities in the future.
