Social commentator and political analyst Rick Dzida, has called on Malawians that as they are enjoying 2025 New Year celebrations, they should have time to reflect on the victims of Dr. Saulosi Chilima’s plane crash in the Chikangawa forest in Mzimba district on Monday, 10th June, 2024.
Dzida says these victims, Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, were friends, acquaintances, fathers, mothers, mentors, family bread winners and heroes to some bona-fide Malawians and if they were alive today, they could have celebrated the coming New Year 2025.
Writing as a tribute to the fallen heroes, Dzida says despite any political differences, these victims had the constitutional right to life observing that except the crew members, it is clear that the victims were working for the office of the Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima.
“It does not require the expertise of a rocket scientist to conclude that the plane crash in the Chikangawa forest was intended to wipe out the Vice President’s office and it did,” reads Dzida’s writing on the wall.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has concurred with Dzida that Malawians should reflect on the many questions they have surrounding the tragic death of Dr. Chilima and eight others.
Kamphangala said the 2024 will not be forgotten in the history of Malawi claiming that the year has ended without Malawians getting convincing answers surrounding the death of Dr. Chilima and eight others, beside the commission of inquiry instituted to investigate the same.
He said the commission of inquiry instituted by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera demands another commission of inquiry to investigate it and come out with reasons that made two members Sylvester Namiwa and Pastor Tony Yolamu Nyirenda of the Sevenths Day Adventist (SDA) Church to resign days after being Sworn in as Commissioners.
The MCP diehard who is a devout Catholic, has appealed to Catholic Bishops in Malawi to meet President Chakwera to tell him that Malawians are not satisfied with the findings of the commission of inquiry as it1ae cv did not reflect the truth.
He has proposed to the new government coming in after the MCP whether it will be in September, 2025 or 2030 to hold commissioners of the inquiry accountable for wasting taxpayer’s money out of covering up and protecting individuals.
“Looking at the pictures which are in circulation from Chikangawa, how come the whole commission of inquiry found guilty the dead persons Dr. Saulosi Chilima and Pilot, Flora Selemani who cannot defend themselves? Questioned Kamphangala.
