AFORD Calls for Regime Change, Citing Economic Hardships and Natural Calamities

The Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) has emphasized the need for a change in government, stressing that this is essential for Malawi to achieve socio-economic prosperity.

AFORD’s National Director of Political Affairs, Ernest Kondowe, made this assertion while introducing Alfred John Adam, the party’s aspiring parliamentary candidate for Mzuzu City South-East, at Msongwe in Mzuzu on Saturday.

Kondowe cited the economic hardships and natural calamities affecting Malawians’ livelihoods as clear signs of God’s wrath, necessitating a new president by September 16th this year.

He further revealed that AFORD is in talks with other political parties to achieve the required 50+1 majority, emphasizing that the Malawi Congress Party is no longer wanted.

“We are in talks with other political parties to achieve the much required 50+1, Malawi Congress Party is no longer wanted,” Kondowe told the crowd.

Adam, addressing a large gathering after meeting with chiefs and block leaders, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support him and AFORD have received in Msongwe.

He attributed this to the party’s popularity and the widespread frustration with the current government.

“Honestly, I did not expect this huge gathering here at Msongwe, this is a clear testimony of our AFORD’s popularity and the frustration over the present government,” said Adam.

Adam’s remarks augers with what the regional director of women Daugrace Mphande said, committing to serve the people, who have been deprived of development and good governance, which are essential for meaningful growth and development.

Prominent leaders in attendance included chiefs, block leaders, clergy members, and representatives from other opposition parties.
