Malawii 24 Presidential opinion poll favors Mutharika than Chakwera

The Malawi 24, an online media publication conducted the presidential opinion poll for its followers to judge the performance of the country’s presidential contenders on the 16th September, 2025 General Elections, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera and former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika.

The Malawi 24 has a significant following not only in Malawi but countries around the globe and on the 21st February, 2025 presidential opinion poll, it received an overwhelming leads for former President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika over the incumbent President Chakwera.

On the day, the count showed 10,000 votes in favor of Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika to 4000 for President Chakwera, this is undeniable signal of where the hearts of the 20 million plus people in Malawi is currently stand.

The lead by Professor Mutharika is speaking volume about the desires, frustrations, and expectations of the people in the face of economic hardships, governance challenges, and the urgent need for a leader who can restore stability and prosperity to Malawi-the beloved nation.

Political Analyst Burnett Munthali said Professor Mutharika’s strong performance on this presidential opinion poll is not a coincidence, it is a direct reflection of the people’s confidence in his leadership as compared with Chakwera’s leadership.

Munthali said during Mutharika’s tenure from 2014- 2020, he demonstrated his ability to drive economic growth, promote infrastructural development, and maintain political stability meaning that Malawians were happy to live in their country.

He said Mutharika’s administration was characterized by decisive action in economic management making prices of essential commodities available and affordable to the poor and there were relative progress in various sectors.

The Analyst said it is not surprising that a significant number of Malawians now see Professor Mutharika as the best alternative to steer the nation back to economic recovery saying his lead in the poll is a testament to public dissatisfaction with the current government under President Chakwera in terms of performance.

He said the lead by Professor Mutharika is also awake up call for all political stakeholders in Malawi to listen to the people’s cries and concerns and prioritize national development over political interests advising every leader seeking the highest office in the country’s land to always remember that leadership is about service, accountability and commitment to the people’s welfare.

“I commend Malawi 24 for initiating this presidential opinion poll and providing a platform for Malawians to express their opinions,” said Munthali.

He has finally urged patriotic Malawians to use this moment to foster meaningful conversations, build unity, and ensure that the 16th September, 2025 General Elections reflect the true will of the Malawian people.
