A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has hailed the decision which has been made by Dr. Elias Chakwera, brother to President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera not to join the race for Dowa Ngala constituency parliamentary seat.

In the first elections, Dr. Elias Chakwera suffered an embarrassing defeat beside his supporters running havoc causing pandemonium at the polling centre by tearing all ballot papers into pieces against the loss of their favorite candidate.

On that day, some people sang anti-Chakwera songs, others were heard shouting on top of their voices insulting and castigating President Chakwera for not listening to the cries of the people and above all, seeming not knowing that Malawians are in pain and suffering.

Media reports are indicating that delegates to the first primary elections which saw the outcome of the elections and the insults showered to President Chakwera had to sit down with Dr. Elias Chakwera not to proceed with the arrangement to have a re-run of the Primary elections for a clear winner.

Dr. Elias Chakwera once served as Dowa Ngala constituency Member of Parliament from 2014 to 2019 under the flagship of the MCP and in the May, 2019 elections, he lost the parliamentary seat to Arthur Sungitsa.

It pleased President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to appoint him as one of his advisors responsible for education, the position he is currently holding at the State House.

Kamphangala said had Dr. Elias Chakwera stood for the primary elections, all the insults and castigations which could have gone to President Chakwera, he would have to carry them on his shoulders and become a laughing stock to the constituents.

He said even if he could have won the primary elections, patronage of people in his rallies could speak to the outside world that people are tired of listening to President Chakwera’s lies and his brother Dr. Elias chakwera has nothing to say to the electorate.

The MCP diehard has claimed that in the 5 years of President Chakwera’s leadership, Affordable Input Programme (AIP) fertilizer was not distributed in time saying this has resulted into many households in the central region to be in food insecure.

“People of the central region besides being hard workers in the fields are in hunger crisis, President Chakwera has failed to address the same, what about his brother, Dr. Elias Chakwera?’ he said.

Kamphangala said people of the central region have MCP blood by birth but the leadership of President Chakwera has disappointed many Malawians including the Chewas themselves and many are regretting to have voted for him into power in June, 2020.

He has advised MCP parliamentary aspirants to prepare for their campaign, selling themselves and President Chakwera to the electorate sale the name of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera…….2 observing that in the rural areas, it will be possible but in towns, cities and main trading centres, all eyes will be on them.
