Dr. Dalitso Kabambe, the leader of the UTM Party, has expressed deep concern over the severe hunger crisis affecting people in Chikwawa and Nsanje districts, as well as other parts of the country.
He described the situation as dire and heartbreaking, noting that many Malawians are suffering without food or any meaningful support from the government.
According to Dr. Kabambe, the economic conditions in Malawi have drastically worsened under the current administration, with businesses collapsing and livelihoods being destroyed.
He also lamented the lack of essential medicines in hospitals, pointing out that the health sector has been neglected to the detriment of vulnerable Malawians.
Further, Dr. Kabambe highlighted the poor state of infrastructure across the country, particularly the dilapidated roads that are making transportation and development difficult in many areas.
He promised that once his party is elected into power, they will work tirelessly to restore the country’s economy and improve the lives of all Malawians.
Dr. Kabambe declared that President Lazarus Chakwera has failed the nation, insisting that it is time for him to step down and allow a new leadership to take over.
“Chakwera has failed and he must go,” said Dr. Kabambe, making his position clear before an enthusiastic crowd.
He made these remarks during a public rally at Ngabu Market in Chikwawa District, where hundreds of supporters gathered to hear his message.
The event attracted people from surrounding villages who braved the scorching sun to listen to the UTM leader, hoping for a message of hope and change.
Dr. Kabambe’s speech is part of a wider campaign aimed at exposing the shortcomings of the Tonse Alliance government and presenting UTM as a credible alternative ahead of the 2025 general elections.
He emphasized that Malawi needs visionary and accountable leadership that will prioritize the needs of ordinary citizens rather than enriching a few elites.
As economic hardships continue to bite and hunger spreads across regions like the Lower Shire, Dr. Kabambe’s message resonated with many who feel neglected by the current administration.
He urged Malawians not to lose hope but to prepare to vote for change that will bring dignity, prosperity, and development back to the nation.
Dr. Kabambe concluded by pledging that the UTM Party will unveil a comprehensive recovery plan that tackles hunger, restores public services, and rebuilds the economy once entrusted with the mantle of leadership.
