Veteran politician and freedom fighter Kamlepo Kalua, has told the Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) that Malawians know everything and them staying quiet does not mean that they are useless, they are just respecting the laws of Malawi.
Kalua said Malawians by virtue of being quiet, does not mean they are afraid of the Malawi Defense Force (MDF) and Malawi Police Service (MPS) urging Mec to conduct the peaceful elections on the 16th September, 2025 that will make the losers accept defeat honorably.
He said Malawians are all aware that Mec is hiding something dangerous to the people and democracy saying this is a recipe for not only violence but war expressing fears that innocent Malawians will be killed reminding Mec and MCP that Malawi has been a peaceful country and will remain to be in peace with or without them.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalua has questioned Mec of its transparency as it is being seen that it does not want Malawians to access the figures registered to cast their votes on the 16th September, 2025 wondering what exactly is Mec afraid of.
Kalua said it is in the interest of the European Union to see to it that independent auditors are allowed to access the figures so that the elections be declared free, fair, credible and transparent but without this happening, Mec is not ready to handle the elections.
He said Malawians are anxiously waiting to celebrate the winning President, Members of Parliament and councilors in good faith and not Mec doing things to make the losers be the winners saying this already is war in the country.
“Free, fair, credible and transparent election does not mean rigging, Malawians need good elections for all to accept the results,” said Kalua.
A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has reminded the Mec that Malawi is not Rwanda and Zimbabwe where people go to the elections blanketed on their faces with a piece of cloth not knowing the registered voters saying is why the elections in these countries go in the favor of the ruling parties in government.
Kamphangala said activities of the MCP and Mec towards the September, 2025 elections are very suspicious that rigging is the order of the day observing that the Mec has already decided the winner of the elections because the candidate in their pockets.
He said what Mec and MCP are doing in the country is a recipe for war claiming that in 2019 and 2020 the MCP advocated for verification of the figures wondering why today they are against auditing of the system saying this alone, Mec is applying MCP vote rigging scheme.
The MCP diehard has warned the MCP that once the country is plunged into civil war is because of Mec activities, saying bona-fide members of the MCP will be targeted for being part of the rigging scheme, their lives and property will be at nobody’s care.
“If people don’t want you to be ruling them, don’t force yourself to be for them, God is angry with you,” said Kamphangala.
