Rights activist Pastor Moses Shumba has called on people of the central region of Malawi to vote on the 16th September, 2025 elections with no mercy claiming that they are the ones who have suffered more than the other regions in terms of farming.
Pastor Shumba said people in the central region believes in farming that their agricultural produce can make them have food to eat and sale the surplus to the other regions of Malawi but the MCP has made them to suffer because of late distribution of fertilizer.
He said most of the people in the region are surviving on pumpkins and sweet potatoes for their survival because they have not produced and in some areas, the maize dried due to low rainfall giving examples of Mvera in Dowa and Salima district.
Speaking through an audio clip, Pastor Shumba said people of the central region have gone through various degrees of suffering in silence because their elected representatives did not want to tell government in time that their people are in hunger crisis.
Pastor Shumba said perhaps people of Kasiya where President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is coming from are the ones that have enjoyed with Chakwera’s rule but the rest in the region, Chakwera has done nothing to them hence to give him no vote.
He said it is only the Smartmatic machine which will declare President Chakwera the winner on the 16th September, 2025 elections not the peoples’ vote encouraging Civil Society Organizations to work together with opposition parties to oust the MCP led government from power.
The activist has urged all Malawians to say “NO” to Smartmatic machines and “Yes” to credible elections observing that Mec Chairperson Justice Annabel Mtalimanja is working for MCP and Malawians should not give chance to her to take Mec as a family organization.
“The Smartmatic machine is now paying its price for the Zimbabweans, people don’t want Emerson Mnangwaga anymore as their President,” said Pastor Shumba.
He has thanked Malawians living in South Africa for saying “NO” to Identity Cards registration by the National Registration Bureau (NRB) saying it is no sense for government to pay air tickets to NRB officers to travel to South Africa only to register people for Identity Cards describing this as vote rigging scheme.
The activist said it is the same that the MCP led government led by President Chakwera was in Mzuzu celebrating Kamuzu Day at the time that the country’s economy has gone to the Intensive Care Unit, filling stations are dry with no fuel, people are in hunger crisis and with elections to take place in 123 days to come.
