Mchinji, Malawi– Mchinji Villa ended the first round of the NBS National Division League in style with a convincing 2–0 victory over Jenda United at the Mchinji Community Ground on Saturday.
The home side showed determination from the start and opened the scoring as early as the 4th minute when Stephano George slotted in from close range. Mchinji Villa continued to dominate and extended their lead midway through the first half with a thunderous strike from Justice Honde, leaving Jenda United goalkeeper Noel Chirwa helpless.

At the break, Mchinji Villa 2–0 Jenda United ahead and looked in full control.
The second half produced chances for both sides but no further goals. Jenda’s attacking duo, Kelvin Kadammanja and Watson Nyirenda, tried to break through, but Villa’s rock-solid defense, commanded by man of the match Jafali John alongside Joseph Banda, kept them at bay.
Coaches React
Jenda United coach Uchizi Nkunika admitted his team lacked experience:
“I have young and inexperienced players who need guidance. As we go into the second round, we will try to bring in experienced players to lead the young ones,” said Nkunika.
Meanwhile, Mchinji Villa coach Joseph Kamwendo praised his players for finishing strongly:
“It was not the kind of play we wanted, but we managed to score and not concede. Ending the first round this way will give us the morale to start the second round on a good note,” Kamwendo said.
League Standings
The victory lifts Mchinji Villa to 13 points, moving them from 11th place to 9th position in the 12-team league table. Jenda United remain bottom with just three points after the first round
