As the saying goes, “make hay while the sun shines,” and this is exactly the approach being taken by the Shadow Malawi Congress Party (MCP) Councillor for Sanjiko Ward under Lilongwe Mpenu Constituency.
Honourable Bruno Daka is continuing his campaign trail to mobilize voters and encourage them to support MCP candidates in the upcoming elections.
On Friday, Hon. Daka held a campaign meeting at Katope Primary School Ground in the area under Group Village Headman Mphete within Traditional Authority Chadza.
In his address, he urged registered voters to cast their votes for him as councillor, Honourable Mkaka as their Member of Parliament, and Dr. Lazarus Chakwera as President if they truly want their area to develop.

He emphasized that the ward has lagged behind in development because constituents have previously voted for candidates who lacked interest in improving the area.
As an example, he cited Katope School, whose roof was blown away by strong winds a long time ago and still remains unrepaired, reflecting the absence of accountable leadership in the area.
Hon. Daka told the community that the era of voting for development-dormant politicians is over; now is the time to vote for leaders who prioritize tangible progress.
He assured the crowd that both Honourable Mkaka and President Chakwera have a proven track record of delivering results and urged residents not to be misled by failed politicians.
In his welcome remarks, Village Headman Mphete pledged support to the councillor and committed to working with him to address long-standing community problems that previous leaders had neglected.
Hon. Daka continued, highlighting the lack of basic infrastructure in the area, including clinics, roads, and bridges, despite communities mobilizing resources, constructing mould bricks, and raising finances for local projects.
He noted that during the rainy season, residents struggle to access their gardens because of the absence of proper bridges and assured voters that development will be prioritized if the MCP candidates are elected.
He cited Honourable Mkaka’s rapid development work in Mazengera Ward as evidence that strong leadership brings tangible results and expressed confidence that similar progress can be achieved in Sanjiko Ward.
Daka pointed out that the area still lacks safe water, despite having had councillors and MPs before, who failed to take any meaningful action.
He urged his constituents to rally behind the MCP candidates, stressing the importance of voting strategically rather than randomly.
He drew an analogy of three stones (mafuwa) that always work together to hold a pot, encouraging voters to support the three MCP candidates capable of delivering development.
This reporter spoke to one woman who attended the meeting. She expressed satisfaction with Hon. Bruno Daka’s development plans and said, “We had an important interactive meeting, and what he has promised, we are confident he will deliver. I am ready to vote for him as councillor, Honourable Mkaka as our MP, and Lazarus Chakwera as President. What we want is real development, not false promises as in the past.”
She further urged her fellow community members to vote for MCP candidates in the forthcoming general elections, declaring, “We are children of Chakwera and his men who can bail us out of these problems.”
