A Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has called on all MCP members and supporters to say “NO” to calls by failed party politicians mobilizing them to go to the streets to protest against President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika’s speedy implementation of free secondary school fees.

Kamphangala has reminded all MCP members and supporters that the eight-days transition period for a peaceful transfer of power from President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to Professor Mutharika has revealed that over K3.4 trillion has been looted from government coffers in just 3 months to the 16th September, 2025 general elections.

He said some other ill-minded MCP members and staff of State houses took advantage of the 8-days transition period to damage and vandalizing state House equipment up to the extent of smearing faeces on the walls of State House.

The MCP diehard said the elections which were held on the 16th September, 2025 were free and fair, the will of the people was respected, and had it been that President Chakwera won the elections, there could have been war in Malawi.

He said it is sad that till this day some other individuals in the MCP are not accepting the results of the elections and are meeting and planning to be staging demonstrations after demonstrations against Professor Mutharika and the DPP led government describing this as a threat to the country’s security.

Kamphangala said it is true that the new government has promised free secondary school fees and other promises but the way the MCP has looted state resources, it will take time for the new government to fulfill the promises made.

He said there are reports that Timothy Mtambo, Engineer Vitumbiko Mumba, HRDC and MCP have teamed up to be holding demonstrations against the new government questioning them where were they when Malawians are spending nights sleeping with empty stomachs and have no hope for a better tomorrow?

The MCP diehard has alleged that these people have stolen a lot from government coffers and that they are afraid of being arrested and prosecuted and above all, they have been awarded dubious contracts and tenders by the MCP government.

“With these stolen money, they will do whatever is possible to be mobilizing people particularly MCP supporters to join them in holding street protests against the new government of the DPP to make the country ungovernable,” said Kamphangala.

He has finally advised Mumba that his political career will end abruptly if he continues his agenda of destabilizing the country through holding demonstrations against Professor Mutharika reminding Mumba that Mutharika is the choice of the people and the people themselves will rise up against him and his friends.
