A call to action for a hunger-free Malawi

President Professor Arthur Peter Mutharika has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to addressing food insecurity across the country, saying no Malawian should go hungry.

Speaking during his visit to Lilongwe on Tuesday, the President said the government will begin maize distribution in the 11 districts that were declared disaster areas, before extending the exercise to all 28 districts nationwide.

The President further urged members of his party to work diligently to meet the needs and aspirations of the people, emphasizing the importance of unity and service.

“Let us work together to ensure that we deliver on our promises and make a positive impact in the lives of Malawians,” he said.

Mutharika expressed his gratitude to the people of the Central Region for their overwhelming support during the elections, noting that their trust reflected strong confidence in his leadership.

“I am humbled and honoured to thank the people of the Central Region for giving me 750,000 votes,” he said.

“This show of support is a testament to the trust and confidence you have placed in me,” he added.

The President’s visit to the Central Region was marked by enthusiasm and excitement, with large crowds gathering to welcome him and listen to his message.

Mutharika’s commitment to food security is in line with his administration’s efforts to promote agricultural development and reduce poverty in Malawi ¹ ² ³.

His government has implemented various initiatives to improve agricultural productivity and support farmers, including investments in agricultural infrastructure and support for modern farming techniques.
