There have been alleged reports by Bakili Muluzi TV and Limpopo online radio station that 400 guns made their way into the country and secretly distributed to MCP youth operatives to target opposition leaders and activists for death ahead of the 16th September, 2025 elections.
After the two media houses reported about these guns, there were reported gunshots at Mponela trading centre in Dowa district targeting DPP Vice President for the centre Alfred Gangata who was on his way to Lilongwe back from Ntchisi where he held a rally.
A DPP minibus was set ablaze at Mponela, DPP Director of Youth Norman Paulosi Chisale reported about the gunshots to Mponela Police Station Officer in Charge, till this day, there has been no statement from the police.
As this is not enough, a leaked whatsApp audio clip went viral that one of the MCP thugs who is currently in the hands of Police Alfred Dala Kadula told Chimwemwe Mhango to get prepared to make sure that his gun should be loaded with bullets and the time the two meet, either him or Mhango will be killed.
In the leaked audio clip, Dala Kadula was confirming that he travelled to Zomba to disrupt the peaceful demonstrations which were organized by Comrade Bon Kalindo but his main agenda was to target Kalindo for death.
A Concerned citizen of Malawi residing at Area 51 in Lilongwe Mrs. Elizabeth Kaliza Banda, has asked the police to take advantage of the arrested MCP thugs to reveal individuals who were given the alleged guns and recover the same.
Kaliza said one of the MCP thugs arrested at Kaphiri in Lilongwe was found with an unlicensed pistol saying this is speaking for itself that the allegations which were levelled by Bakili Muluzi TV and Limpopo FM were not just mere allegations, but truth.
She has expressed fears that some of the youth operatives who are at large might have taken the guns with them and they will be terrorizing citizens across the country hence appealing to police to take the issue of the alleged guns seriously.
“The police must conduct thorough investigations that whosoever will be connected to the alleged guns distribution to MCP youth operatives must be arrested and prosecuted for undermining national security,” said Kaliza.
Kaliza has finally appealed to government to establish a special court to handle cases of MCP suspected criminals expressing hope that the DPP being a government run by the people that voted for it, will put into considerations her plea in an soon as yesterday.
