Pacific Limited has been honoured with a prestigious award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the fight against cholera through the free rehabilitation of damaged boreholes across Malawi.
The award was presented by Business in Detail Magazine (BIM) to the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Faizal Aboo, during a colourful ceremony held at the Bingu International Conference Centre (BICC). Speaking during the ceremony, BIM official Comfort Mkandawire commended Pacific Limited for its selfless commitment to improving access to clean and safe water, particularly in underserved communities. She noted that the company’s free borehole rehabilitation initiative is not only saving lives but also laying a strong foundation for sustainable development.
“This is a powerful example of how the private sector can play a critical role in addressing public health challenges and supporting national progress,” Mkandawire said.
Receiving the award on behalf of Mr. Aboo, James Nsusa reaffirmed Pacific Limited’s unwavering commitment to the initiative, describing access to clean water as a basic right, not a privilege.
“Since 2015, Pacific Limited has rehabilitated more than 9,000 damaged boreholes free of charge. Our goal is to ensure that women and girls, who are most affected by water challenges, can easily access clean and safe water,” Nsusa said.
He added that the initiative has proven critical in helping to curb the spread of waterborne diseases, particularly cholera, which often surges during the rainy season due to poor water and sanitation conditions.
Pacific Limited’s efforts continue to position the company as a leading example of corporate social responsibility, demonstrating how targeted community-focused interventions can deliver lasting health and social benefits across the country.
