Speaker of the National Assembly Catherine Gotani Hara has urged women to remain positive and actively participate in the country’s socioeconomic growth.
She challenged them to maximize their potential in various talents, including music, and to take an active role in all sectors of the economy
Hara who is also the 1st Deputy President of the Malawi Congress Party made these remarks in Mzuzu while launching the DVD music album ‘The Bright Morning’ by the Women’s Ministry of the 7th Day Adventist Church North-Malawi Conference.
“It is quite imperative for women to work together towards a common purpose and to take advantage of their talents to drive economic growth.” said Gotani Hara
She also emphasized the importance of unity among women and encouraged them to rise above petty inferiority complexes to improve their socioeconomic status, in line with Agenda 2063 and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr. Earnest Kaonga, Director of Maranatha Private Academy, praised the Women’s Ministry for releasing the musical album saying “it is symbolizing unity and contributing to the preaching of the word of God”.
In her remarks Ellis Thawe, Director of the Women’s Ministry in the 7th Day Adventist Church North-Malawi Conference, explained that the album aims to inspire those who miss gospel music in vernacular languages like Tumbuka.
“This music is aimed to inspire those who miss gospel music done in vernacular languages like Tumbuka, even those in diaspora will now have an opportunity enjoy the music and be blessed,” said Thawe.
The launch was also attended by Vella Usi, spouse of the country’s Vice President.
