Kaliati says UTM manifesto is still intact, not used

Former Transformation Movement (UTM) Secretary General Dr. Patricia Kaliati, says the 2019-2020 UTM manifesto of creating one million jobs, eating three meals a day and free connections of electricity and water, was not used as the UTM was not on the driving seat.

Dr. Kaliati said 2025 is the year of hope for the better that the manifesto which was not used will now come to the public to taste it and prove themselves that UTM meant for it advising Malawians to vote for UTM President Dr. Dalitso Kabambe for presidency for the vision to come true.

She has appealed to UTM members not to be disappointed that some of the promises made during the campaign trails of Tonse Alliance government were not met saying this was so, because it was not their turn, in September, 2025 will be the turn for UTM.

Speaking to Times Exclusion programme on Saturday evening, Dr. Kaliati accepted the results of the convention held in Mzuzu saying Dr. Kabambe is 100 percent President of the UTM advising an independent body that oversaw the results to take her votes she got.

Dr. Kaliati has dismissed the sentiments made by former President of the UTM Dr. Michael Usi that the convention was illegal observing that the date of 17th November, 2024 was set by him and he chose not to go to Mzuzu.

She said for the sake of love to the departed Vice President Dr. Saulosi Chilima and the UTM, those sentiments by Dr. Usi must not be there saying she would have loved if Dr. Usi was supporting Dr. Kabambe for the UTM to realize its dreams.

Dr. Kaliati has advised Dr. Usi to work as Vice President of the Republic appealing to him that it can be an intelligent decision with an appeal to him to stand for UTM in the Parliamentary elections coming in September, 2025 saying Malawians and UTM supporters would be happy for this.

She said Dr. Usi was fired from UTM for contravening with the party’s constitution claiming that he was mobilizing UTM members to join him at a government function at the time the party announced to the public, an end of their Alliance in government with the MCP.

“His advisors failed to advise him in good faith, he could have travelled to Mzuzu for a convention to speak to the delegates that he was the Vice President and whatever is needed in UTM, he will be available for them, this could be blessings to him,” said Dr. Kaliati.
