Kalindio reminds Ministers that their positions are not for life

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo has reminded Ministers and other people in decision-making positions to always remember that the positions they are holding today are not for life advising them that power will take them to nowhere.

Kalindo said it is sad that some politicians in Malawi have reached a point of saying the clergy must be doing their own affairs and leave politics to the politicians alone, observing that this kind of speaking is useless in the eyes of God.

He said politics started in the church and without the church there could have been no politics observing that the Catholic Church, CCAP and Islam have made their contributions in Malawi unlike politicians who stood on a podium boasting of doing developments while there is zero on the ground.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said it is the church who invited the Europeans to come to Malawi to implement development projects not politicians claiming that most of the politician’s contributions in Malawi has been corruption, thieving in government and looting of public resources.

Kalindo has asked all politicians in the country to do self-introspection on the achievements they have made to the country and to ask themselves a question that if the position they are holding today ends without notice, what legacy will they leave for the generations to remember them?

He said he has learnt with sadness that for the first time in the history of the country standard 8 learners will be seating for their Primary School Leaving Certificate of Educations (PSLCE) without Identity Cards, government has attributed this to lack of forex in the country.

The activist said the country is relying on donors to do most of the country’s projects wondering that in the whole Malawi, there is no company to print Identity Cards saying this is speaking for itself that the country’s leaders have their heads bent on corruption.

He said the International Monetary Fund (IMF) after instructing Malawi to devalue its local currency by 44 percent as a condition to get the loan has dumped the country, saying this is the time for Malawians to pray to God asking for forgiveness.

“Instead of addressing the issues that have rocked the country, you are busy attacking men of God, God Himself is angry and has shown his greatness, you will be punished,” said Kalindo.

He has warned the MCP led government of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to brace for more demonstrations in the coming two months, saying vendor protests will be back to demonstrate against the worst leadership Malawians have ever seen since the dawn of multiparty politics and democracy in in 1994.
