Chikwawa, Malawi – United Democratic Front (UDF) president, Atupele Muluzi, has pledged to carry forward the development agenda initiated by the party during its decade in government between 1994 and 2004, if Malawians elect him as the country’s next leader.

Speaking during a rally at East Bank in Chikwawa District, Muluzi reminded supporters of UDF’s track record in delivering key reforms that transformed Malawi’s social and economic sectors.

UDF’s Past Achievements

Atupele highlighted that under UDF’s leadership, Malawi:

Introduced free primary education in 1994, a milestone that opened doors for millions of children.

Promoted business and trade growth, empowering entrepreneurs and small-scale traders.

Improved social welfare programs, aimed at uplifting the livelihoods of ordinary Malawians.

He emphasized that these policies laid the foundation for national progress and positioned Malawi on the path of social and economic transformation.

A Call for Renewed Support

Muluzi told the crowds that his vision is to build on these achievements, ensuring that education, business development, and social services remain at the core of his leadership.

“UDF has always been a people-centered party. We want to restore hope, deliver affordable services, and create opportunities for all Malawians,” said Muluzi.

The rally in Chikwawa drew significant attention as the UDF continues to intensify its campaign efforts ahead of the 2025 Malawi General Elections.
