As all the roads are leading to Nkhatabay where President Dr. Lazarus Chakwer will lead the nation to honor all those that sacrificed their lives during the struggle for the c country’s independence, political activist Bon Kalindo says the Day is meaningless to the people of Nkhatabay.
Kalindo has claimed that people of Nkhatabay North in the area of Traditional Authority M’bwana are slaves in their own district after the Malawi Defence Force (MDF) soldiers had to beat them up and force them leave their land Kasasiee and Bunji.
He said these people have for 4 months been accommodated at a CCAP Church thanking Roman Catholic Priests and the Livingstonia CCAP Synod for providing support to these people in the form of food.
Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said Martyrs Day would have been meaningful for all the Nkhatabay people to be together in remembering and honoring the fallen heroes but some others in the very same district have their land been grabbed by the MDF by force.
Kalindo said today, the people of Nkhatabay could have been celebrating the fruits of the MCP led government on the fulfilment of its promises such as construction of Orton Chirwa International Airport, Orton Chirwa University and roads, but all these were lies to the people of Nkhatabay.
He said the people of Kasasile and Bunji were damped by Government and three days ago, they received 400 bags of maize without relish for the MCP government to be seen that it has the welfare of the citizens at heart.
The activist has accused Ministers and Members of Parliament of Nkhatabay for not telling the President the truth on the people of Kasasile and Bunji for government to leave the people alone claiming that MDF has a place in the Viphya plantation.
He has claimed that the freedom and independence the country’s ancestors fought for is not there to the people of the land, the people that are enjoying are foreigners observing that many Malawians are in pain and suffering for they don’t know what to eat tomorrow.
“These people of Kasasile and Bunji whose land was taken by the MDF cannot join President Chakwera who is in Nkhatabay honoring the fallen heroes,” said Kalindo.
He said even the speeches which will be coming from Martyrs Day commemorations will be full of praising President Chakwera as if he has done anything to the people of Nkhatabay saying the culture of praising for nonsense, is what has destroyed Malawi in the hands of politicians.
Kalindo has asked God the Almighty to visit President Chakwera for his senses to be back that Malawians are in pain and suffering under his leadership and he will go down in the country’s political history as the worst President the country has ever had since the dawn of multiparty politics and democracy in1994.
He has finally quashed the decision by President Chakwera seeking votes from Malawians to have another 5 year- mandate of running the country to 2030 describing this as nonsense, saying if the country has no capable leaders, it is better to be ruled by trees.
