Shadow Councillor for the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) in Sanjiko Ward, Lilongwe Mpenu Constituency, has called on the people of Ching’ombe to support Hon. Eisenhoer Mkaka, whom he described as a true champion of development.

Speaking on 6th September in Doko Village under Traditional Authority Chadza in Lilongwe District, the councillor told residents to wake up early and cast their votes for development by supporting Hon. Mkaka, himself as councillor, and President Lazarus Chakwera.

He invoked a local proverb, “Chiluke chiluke ngwa njuchi umanena yakuluma,” meaning not all bees can harm you; only one does. He compared this to politicians who neglect communities, warning voters to choose leaders committed to progress.

The shadow councillor praised Hon. Mkaka’s achievements in Mazengera Ward, highlighting that he has implemented meaningful projects and tangible development.

“If you want to benefit and enjoy the fruits of development, vote for me as councillor, Hon. Mkaka as your MP, and Dr. Chakwera as President,” he said.

He criticized candidates who have never visited the area, describing them as neglectful and lacking genuine commitment to development.

The councillor cited Mkhwizi Village in Mazengera Ward as an example, where Mkaka had facilitated the installation of fifteen solar-powered water systems, providing safe water free from waterborne diseases.

He warned residents against being misled by independent contestants, saying, “They failed in the primaries, and their only interest is feeding their families—they will abandon the area once elected. For six years, they have done nothing but buy coffins. They are not true children of this community.”

The councillor emphasized that Hon. Mkaka has consistently prioritized the community, stating, “Mkaka is your MP. He always keeps the people’s welfare at heart and delivers on his promises.”

He also highlighted pressing local issues, including shortages of potable water and poor road infrastructure, promising that MCP candidates would address these challenges through meaningful development projects.

Residents were urged to keep their voter registration certificates safe, as these represent their tool for influencing development.

He further warned against accepting handouts from other politicians, explaining that such practices constitute electoral bribery and violate election laws.

In his welcome speech, Senior Group Village Headman Doko expressed gratitude to Hon. Bruno Daka for visiting the area, noting that past politicians had ignored the community.

The headman outlined persistent challenges, including a non-functional borehole previously drilled by a quarry company, poor road conditions, lack of a local market for affordable farm inputs, and limited access to loans and community development initiatives.

He requested Hon. Daka to involve the quarry company in corporate social responsibility projects and asked him to support Hon. Mkaka in implementing solar-powered boreholes and other infrastructure projects.

The headman assured that the people of Doko Village would rally behind MCP candidates, stating, “We will vote for you as councillor, Hon. Mkaka as our MP, and Chakwera as President, because they deliver development.”

Responding, Hon. Daka promised that if elected, all these issues would be addressed with community involvement in project planning and execution.

He told residents, “Lende nkukakhana”—your support is essential for development. Without it, projects cannot succeed. He emphasized that voting for MCP candidates beginning 16th September is the first step toward meaningful change.

This campaign meeting was part of ongoing grassroots engagement, where Hon. Daka continues to interact with communities to explain the plans and promises of the MCP team, including the councillor, Hon. Mkaka as MP, and President Chakwera.
