This Sunday, 250 cyclists, including professionals and amateurs, will embark on a thrilling ride through the picturesque sugar plantations in Dwangwa, Nkhotakota District.
The event aims to raise over K60 million for the construction of a brick wall at Nkhotakota LEA primary school, which will provide a safer environment for its students, particularly those with special needs and physical disabilities, including albinos.
The school’s current lack of security fencing poses a significant risk to its vulnerable students. Dyson Mpeketula, Chairperson of the Dwangwa Round Table 69, expressed optimism about the event’s success, citing overwhelming support from corporate partners and cyclists alike.
“This charity race is a fantastic opportunity for the community to come together and make a meaningful difference in the lives of these remarkable students,” said Mpeketula.

The funds raised will go towards building a secure perimeter fence, ensuring the students’ protection and well-being.
“This initiative is crucial, as children with special needs often require additional support and care. In fact, research highlights the importance of creating safe and inclusive environments for students with disabilities to thrive,” he added.
