Malawi National Football Team coach Mario Marinica has named Flames legend Lawrence ‘Lule’ Waya in his technical panel.
The Romanian announced this on Wednesday at Mpira Village in Chiwembe when he also released a 27-man local-based squad to start preparations for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers next month.
Waya has been roped in as data analyst intern with Patrick Mabedi and Civil Service United’s Franco Ndawa as assistant coaches, Briton Clwyd Jones has returned as assistant coach for sport psychology and data analyst.
Silver Strikers’ Peter Mgangira and Nyasa Big Bullets’ Enos Chatama are understudy coaches, Chikondi Mandalasi is physiotherapist while Karonga United’s Victor Mphande is goalkeeper trainer.
Former Flames defender Sangala has returned as technical support manager, a position which was previously called team manager. His assistant is Major Rodgers Mhongo.
Marinica said the criterion he used to select his assistants, among others, was computer literacy.
The Flames are expected to go into camp on Sunday at Chiwembe Village and he is expected to name a provisional squad for foreign-based players.
