Companies and individuals continue making donations towards the Presidential Charity Golf Tournament with Seed-Co Malawi being the latest with its K2.5 million financial support towards the initiative whose proceeds will go towards assisting needy tertiary students and households affected by Cyclone Ana.
Finance Director for Seed-Co, Sakurai Mbanda said they saw it fit to donate towards the initiative because it is in line with their Corporate Social Responsibility.
“Cyclone Ana victims are their clients who buy their seed and tertiary students are their future employees of Seedco after graduation,” said Mbanda.
Receiving the donation, one of the Organizing Committee members, Cathie Matura was grateful to Seed-Co for its generous donation which she said would contribute towards the initiative budget.
She added as a committee, they made a commitment not to use a coin from the donations hence their appeal for companies and individuals to partner them through contributions in kind to meet the event expenses.
“These include event banners, scorecards, pin flags, water and soft drinks, photography services, decoration services and chairs, among others, to be used on the day of the event,” said Matura while acknowledging hard cash contributions due to the prevailing economic situation.
President Lazarus Chakwera launched the initiative whose inaugural event is slated for October 8 2022 at the Lilongwe Golf Club.
