The Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Malawi National Examination Board has released this year’s Primary School Leaving Certificate of Education Examination (PSLCE) results.
At a press briefing in Lilongwe, MANEB Executive Director, Dorothy Nampota, said of the 260, 295 students who sat the 2022 PSLCE, 216, 664 have passed, representing 83.24 percent pass rate.
Nampota said this year’s pass rate compared to the 2021 results was 83.83 percent.
Nampota further said in 2022, a total of 266, 616 candidates registered for the examinations.
On selection to Form One, Minister of Education, Agnes Nyalonje said 89, 404 have been selected, representing 41 percent.
During this year’s PSLCE examination, 10 districts have performed exceptionally well and are as follows:
Zomba Urban (95.98%)
Nkhata Bay (93.88%)
Likoma ( 93.00%)
Mzuzu City ( 92.64%)
Phalombe ( 92.44%)
Zomba Rural ( 91.72%)
Thyolo (89.14%)
Mchinji (85.91%)
While the bottom 10 are as follows.
Mwanza (70.21%),
Nsanje (70.59%),
Neno (75.19%),
Ntcheu (75.56%),
Chikwawa (76.85%),
Nkhotakota (79.04%),
Blantyre Rural (79.59%),
Ntchisi (79.62%),
Mangochi (79.71%),
Machinga (80.02%)
The MANEB Chief said the examination this year were generally leak-free and clean.
She commended all stakeholders including teachers and security agents for collaborating in the administration of the examination.
