The upcoming 2023 football season is projected to raise a minimum of 4.5 billion kwacha in gross revenue.
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) officials revealed the forecast in Blantyre this morning during a media briefing that also acted as a platform to review the 2022 season.
According to the FA, 2023 gate takings from both local and international games are being projected at 175 million kwacha while business ventures and TV rights estimates are being pegged at 541 million kwacha.
Other revenue projections are 92 million kwacha for competition sponsorship funds, 120 million kwacha as FDH Flames sponsorship and 880 million kwacha grant from treasury.
FAM is also expecting 2.4 billion kwacha from FIFA and 257 million kwacha from CAF.
Meanwhile, the association’s president Walter Nyamilandu has revealed a 1.3 billion kwacha budget for the country’s national teams’ participation in various continental competitions this year.
