Chaoti and cash-strapped Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation-ADMARC has a new Chief Executive Officer in Daniel Baxter Makata.

ADMARC Board Chairperson Professor Zachary Kasomekera says this follows a comprehensive recruitment process. He adds Makata is expected to start work on 1st July 2023.

Kasomekera further says Makata holds a Masters Degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor of Business Administration.

Previously, Makata worked as Deputy CEO for Select Financial Services, Group Head of Operations and Administration at Electrocard Systems, Head of Mobile and Digital Business at Finca Malawi, Chief Commercial Officer for TNM Malawi and Operations Manager at Press Properties, among others.

Currently, ADMARC’s former employees have dragged institution to court, demanding compensation for unfair dismissal.

On January 30, Admarc Board of Directors wrote to all members of staff, notifying them that the firm was implementing a 100 percent retrenchment exercise.

Earlier, Agriculture and Natural Resources Cluster of Parliament indicated that the corporation needed about K123.3 billion to enable it to effectively perform its functions this year.

All this has been happening when some stakeholders call for the recapitalisation of ADMARC.
