A group of compassionate youths in Mzuzu, operating under the banner Do Your Part Initiative, has made a generous donation of K500,000 to the Mzuzu Crisis Nursery. The donation is aimed at alleviating financial challenges faced by the nursery in caring for vulnerable children.
The Mzuzu Crisis Nursery provides a safe haven for children who have been abandoned, lost their parents, or have mothers who are critically ill or struggling with mental health challenges. The funds were raised through contributions made by members of the youth initiative.
Speaking during the handover, Do Your Part Initiative Executive Director, Matthews Botha, emphasized the role of youth in fostering positive change in society.
“Youth should not be instruments of political or religious violence. Instead, we must contribute to building a better society by addressing social challenges,” Botha said.
The nursery management expressed profound gratitude for the support, describing the donation as a timely intervention in their mission to provide care and hope to the children.
This gesture highlights the power of youth-led initiatives in addressing societal needs and advocating for community development. As the Do Your Part Initiative demonstrates, small contributions, when pooled together, can create significant positive impacts.
The act has drawn praise from various community leaders, who encouraged other groups to emulate such efforts and support institutions that serve the underprivileged.
The Do Your Part Initiative has pledged continued support to the nursery and other vulnerable groups in society, reaffirming their commitment to driving social change in Malawi.
