Maya Private Secondary School on Wednesday hosted Mthunzi Trust for an inspirational and educational engagement aimed at equipping students with practical knowledge, life skills, and opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The outreach programme featured four guest speakers who delivered presentations on prayer and personal values, entrepreneurship, career development, scholarships, volunteering opportunities, and the responsible use of social media. Speaking during the event, Mthunzi Trust Resource Mobilisation Officer, Lisnet Lissah Kangulu, emphasised the importance of prayer, forgiveness, peaceful coexistence, and mutual respect among students.
Kangulu also introduced entrepreneurship as a pathway to self-reliance, encouraging learners to start small businesses and highlighting the benefits of business registration, including access to grants and other opportunities available to young entrepreneurs in Malawi.
Mthunzi Trust Grants and Partnerships Officer, Ntchindi Tchongwe, challenged students to make informed decisions about their future by carefully selecting courses and institutions that align with their interests, talents, and career aspirations.
“Encouraged learners to explore vocational and technical skills such as tailoring, motor vehicle mechanics, carpentry and joinery, coding, plumbing, electrical installation, and other trades that can create employment and business opportunities,” said Tchongwe.PRISAM calls for Police investigations on school violence
The organisation’s Programmes Manager, Joel Chirwa, provided guidance on scholarships, grants, and volunteering opportunities. He stressed the importance of building strong curriculum vitae (CVs), networking, and gaining practical experience through community service.
Meanwhile, Mthunzi Trust Founder Symon Satiele inspired students to use social media responsibly, build positive digital footprints, identify opportunities for growth, and remain focused on achieving their goals despite challenges.
In his remarks, the school’s chaplain, Douglas Desire Deogracious, commended Mthunzi Trust for organising the impactful session, describing it as timely and beneficial to the students. He noted that the knowledge shared would help learners make informed decisions about their education, careers, and future endeavours.
