The MCP Youth Leadership has now come in the open defying all the odds admitting that a lot of people are not happy with the MCP and as such, the party is losing support even in their strongholds.

The confession by MCP Youth leadership is speaking for itself that all is not well in the mighty MCP and that the concerns of the youth forwarded to the party’s leadership are either not addressed or under-looked.

Last week, social commentator Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, released a video clip saying three-quarters of the MCP National Executive Committee (NEC) members do not want President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera to continue leading the party as its president and torchbearer of the September, 2025 elections.

According to Sunganimoyo, majority of MCP NEC members wants President Chakwera to immediately been replaced by either Mr. Simbi Phiri, owner of Khato Civils Engineering Company or business entrepreneurial Dr. Napoleon Dzombe.

In an open letter addressed to the party’s leadership dated 27th December, 2024 signed by Lucious Kachimbwinda, MCP Youth Leadership, the youth have called on the MCP leadership to focus on real issues that Malawians are sailing through to rebuild trust and win again in September, 2025.

The youth leadership said the party had been paying people to register in the just ended voter registration exercise for them to register in their large number so that they vote for President Chakwera because they have lost confidence in MCP.

“But, when they enter the polling booth, their decision will depend on whether we have delivered or not, instead of fighting the Catholic bishops, let’s focus on solving these issues,” reads the letter in part.

The MCP Youth leadership said the youth in the MCP are not happy with the remarks which are being made to discredit Archbishop Thomas Luke Msusa saying they are in support of him because he is speaking the truth that Malawians are not satisfied with the commission of inquiry’s findings on the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others
.
The Youth leadership has advised the party not to forget that these Catholic bishops they are discrediting today, spoke out the same during the UDF, DPP and PP era saying they are simply standing for what is right as they have always been.

They have asked those paying Pastors to discredit Archbishop Msusa to stop, saying if the goal is to divide and weaken the MCP then, they should continue but this will harm the party further, urging the party’s leadership to seriously focusing on fixing the challenges Malawians are facing.

Among the challenges the MCP Youth Leadership has forwarded to the party’s leadership to address include high maize prices, forex shortages where a Dollar is trading at K3,200 against the Malawi Kwacha, unemployment, high interest rates, and the rising crime which is causing fear among citizens.
