President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has appointed a 31- member lean cabinet

By Vincent Gunde

Political activist Bon Kalindo says President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has proved himself that he is the worst leader Malawi has ever had since 1994 and is very decisive making one fail to understand that is this same Chakwera Malawians voted for in June, 2020 to be in government?

Kalindo said President Chakwera is on record having travelled globally begging money for the country’s infrastructures, the national debts have reached K16.1 trillion, the economy has collapsed and has appointed a lean 31-member cabinet.

He said what president Chakwera has demonstrated by appointing a 31-member cabinet is speaking for itself that he doesn’t care about the sufferings of the citizens and he cares for himself, his family, friends and relatives.

Speaking through an audio clip, Kalindo said he expected President Chakwera to walk in the footsteps of Kamuzu Banda that he can come up with a lean cabinet of combining ministries as one giving examples of Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and Ministry of Agriculture, irrigation and Water Development.

Kalindo said he did not expect President Chakwera to appoint two Ministers in one Ministry, Minister of Education responsible for Higher Education and Basic Education in a country where its economy has gone to bed.

He said in the United Kingdom which comprises of England, Wales and Scotland, there are 22 ministers and Malawi a country which is surviving on foreign aid and donations has 31 ministers, asking President Chakwera that what picture is he portraying to the world.

The activist has dismissed claims made by President Chakwera that he is acting on plane crash report describing this as a total joke saying if it is true, the Cabinet reshuffle would have been made in June, 2024 soon after the plane crash.

He said by now, some Ministers would have been arrested and worse still, he is keeping non-performing Ministers in his government claiming that other ministers have spent 4 years in one office till this day, if they have done something good is praising Chakwera to be the servant leader.

“The way the country is in, no forex, fertilizer, medicine in public hospitals, skyrocketing prices of food and other basic needs, President Chakwera appointing his 31-member cabinet, glory be to him” said Kalindo.

He said if the 31-member cabinet has been appointed for the country’s economic recovery plan, then, Malawi is a blessed country to have a visionary leader who would bail the country out of poverty to prosperity but if it is not, the devil must have walked on foot in Malawi.

Kalindo has advised government to revert back to the old system of employing primary school teachers noting with a great concern corruption has increased in councils and this has made many teachers of IPTE 13,14,15,16 jobless.
