In a passionate address, His Excellency, President Prof. Arthur Peter Mutharika, declared that the doors of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) are open to all former members who left the party for other political factions. Speaking at a gathering in Miseu, Mutharika urged those who had previously parted ways with DPP to return, assuring them that they would be warmly welcomed back with open arms.

“Return, we welcome you! We will accept you and help you rebuild Malawi,” Mutharika said, emphasizing that the party is ready to embrace those who left in the past. “We understand that many of you are eager to return, but perhaps you’re hesitant or unsure how to come back. Don’t worry, the gates of DPP are open.”

Drawing an analogy from the Bible, Mutharika likened the DPP to a welcoming party, ready to receive all those who had strayed and lost their way. He compared the situation to the parable of the prodigal son, suggesting that, much like the father in the Biblical story, DPP would joyfully accept those returning to the fold, regardless of their past decisions.

“For those who left, we say come back. The party is ready to receive you with love and open arms. When you return, we will not shun you. Instead, we will help you work together to strengthen the country and bring about the change that Malawi needs,” he said, surrounded by enthusiastic supporters.

Mutharika also acknowledged the significant number of people who still desire to rejoin the party, stating that many are eager to contribute to the party’s mission of taking Malawi forward. He emphasized that their return is critical for the upcoming general elections, as the DPP seeks to restore order, stability, and prosperity in the country.

The former president made it clear that those returning should not fear judgment or exclusion. He assured them that they would be treated fairly and with dignity, with their contributions valued. “If you are concerned about the path back into the party, know that it’s not about the past but about the future. We want everyone to join us in rebuilding our great nation,” Mutharika added.

Mutharika’s message also had a wider implication for the DPP as a whole. He pointed out that the party is focused on improving the lives of all Malawians, with the vision to re-enter government in the 2025 elections. He reminded the crowd that their unity and collective effort are essential to bring about the necessary change for a better Malawi.

In his speech, the former president touched on key issues such as economic recovery, job creation, and infrastructure development, all of which he believes can be achieved through the combined strength of a united DPP. “Together, we can make Malawi a beacon of success in Africa. Let us join forces and make the dream of a prosperous Malawi a reality once more,” Mutharika implored.

The president concluded his remarks by reiterating that the party is united in its vision for Malawi’s future. He called on both new and returning members to rally behind the cause of development, and to work hard to restore the country to its former glory. The message was clear: The DPP is not only ready for the return of its former members but is also prepared to lead Malawi into a new era of growth and stability.

Mutharika’s call for unity and reconciliation resonated deeply with the crowd, and many are expected to heed the invitation to return to the party and contribute to its efforts for the 2025 elections. As the DPP prepares for the upcoming electoral battle, Mutharika’s open arms approach is expected to bolster party unity and strengthen its position in the political landscape.

“Let’s put aside our differences. We have work to do. Malawi needs us. Come back, join hands, and let’s build a brighter future together,” Mutharika concluded, as his supporters cheered enthusiastically, ready for what lies ahead.
