Lwala says ruling government is not initiating arrests of people

Social commentator Dr. Samuel Lwala, says ruling government Is not initiating arrests of opposition party members observing that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has been proved that it has abused Malawians more than the DPP.

Lwala said whoever was behind commanding the police to arrest opposition leaders at the crucial time that the elections are between mouth and nose, is another fool lamenting that within 2 days, stories of arresting opposition leaders.

He has asked President Chakwera and the MCP to account what they have done in government in 4 years observing that there’s rampant corruption in MCP which is three times more than the DPP and nepotism is the order of the day.

Speaking through an audio clip, Lwala said the MCP and President Chakwera have failed to govern Malawians saying Chakwera being Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces in Malawi cannot order police to arrest opposition leaders on drummed up political charges.

Lwala said those that have been arrested within two days are opposition party leaders from the south belonging to the DPP saying this alone, the MCP has dug a pit to fall in it by itself saying there’s no way the MCP will campaign easily in the southern, eastern and northern regions.

He said the MCP must acknowledge itself that it has contributed to President Chakwera’s fall observing that Malawians were expecting the MCP to be doing things contrary to what the DPP was doing while in government, the party is repeating the same DPP mistakes.

The activist said President Chakwera knows nothing about governance and this has been proved with the arrest of Sameer Suleman arguing that Suleman was supposed to meet in court with Malondela but on a surprising note, it was the State vs Suleman describing this as a shame to President Chakwera and the MCP.

“This is unwelcoming behavior, the leadership initiating arrests of opposition leaders without proper investigations and it will be very difficult for the MCP to come back to power,” said Lwala.

He said the Courts are proving to the police that they are non-partisan demanding the police to be very careful in arresting opposition party leaders observing with a concern that the Force leadership of Madam Yolamu is so weak defeating the principle that women can deliver if given a chance.

“Former Inspector General of Police Nangwale was good but made a simple mistake making Malawians to turn against her, today, Madam Yolamu as Inspector General of Police is very weak, I don’t know where is she getting weaknesses,” said Lwala.
