Atupele Muluzi and Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoy.both are on MCP targets for arrests and deaths
United Democratic Front (UDF) presidential torchbearer in the 16th September, 2025 elections Atupele Muluzi, has assured Malawians that he is standing up for the people of Malawi and no amount of threats or intimidation will silence him.
Writing on his face book page, Muluzi said on the evening of Sunday 9th March, 2025 he received a call threatening him with arrest by the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) government simply because he spoke the truth during his interview on Zodiak Radio.
“Our democracy must be defended, and I will not back down,” reads Atupele Muluzi’s writing on the wall.
In an interview monitored on Zodiak Broadcasting Station “Tiuzeni zoona programme” Atupele Muluzi challenged Malawians that he is a clean politician and whoever knows that he did this and that in the previous governments, must come forward for Malawians to know.
Muluzi said this is the kind of leadership which is lacking in the country to be elected saying political leaders must be accountable to the people, those without corruption background if the country is to be transformed.
He said leadership is provided by God urging Malawians not to elect corrupt leaders but choosing leaders basing on their ability and capability observing that corruption by political leaders in Malawi has resulted to no medicines in hospitals, no fertilizers, Kwacha devaluations on daily basis, public funds embezzlement and NGOs pulling out of the country.
The UDF leader said people that are suffering are ordinary people living in the villages who cannot be able to buy a bag of maize at K110,000, Nima soap at K700 per tablet, sugar at K4,000 and bread at K3,500, among other hiked essential commodities.
Reacting to Atupele Muluzi’s threats of arrests by the MCP, an aspiring Presidential candidate Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo has accused some people in the MCP of trying their best to destroy the good image of President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera that he is presiding over a government whose ministers have one agenda-arresting and killing opponents.
Sunganimoyo said it is sad that the image of the MCP is being destroyed day after day making many Malawians to continue associate the reformed MCP of President Chakwera to the old MCP of Kamuzu Banda which committed various atrocities in the country.
He said himself is being targeted after receiving threats of being killed for turning against President Chakwera and the MCP simply because he wanted to tell President Chakwera the truth that Malawians are in pain and suffering.
“Some people in the MCP are targeting me for deaths, what offence have I committed to them, I cannot tell my President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera lies that Malawians are happy under his leadership,” said Sunganimoyo.
On his part, a Malawi Congress Party (MCP) diehard of Mvera in Dowa district Mr. Rodgers Kamphangala, has advised President Chakwera to put his house to order that threats of arrests, intimidations and killings of political opponents will take the party to nowhere.
Kamphangala said this could have been a good time for President Chakwera to come very close to the people by listening to their cries other than some people hiding in the name of the MCP sending threats of arrests and killings to opposition party leaders and activists
