Malawi Congress Party: Enemies of democracy

By Comrade Jumbe

The Malawi Congress Party (MCP) has spent years trying to deceive Malawians into believing that they have changed. But their actions reveal the truth: they remain the same brutal, power-hungry force that suffocated this country for decades.

Recent attacks on democracy, violent suppression of demonstrations, and the brutal hacking of innocent citizens with pangas and zikwanje prove that MCP is determined to drag Malawi back into darkness.

For the first time in our democratic history, people are being butchered simply for exercising their constitutional right to protest.

A hyena may change its fur, but it never changes its appetite.

MCP has returned with the same brutality that our fathers fought against—the same oppression that led Malawians to reject them in 1994. They pretend to be a democratic party, yet they unleash terror upon those who dare to challenge their rule.

Malawi belongs to Malawians, not MCP.

“The river does not belong to the crocodile alone; the fish, too, have their share.”

No single party owns this country. The people of Malawi struggled and sacrificed everything to achieve democracy, yet MCP behaves as though they are landlords and Malawians are mere tenants in their own land. They have forgotten that power belongs to the people.

MCP has proven time and again that they are unworthy of leadership. The party that once ruled through fear, detentions, and executions is back with the same violent tactics. This is not a government—it is a gang of political criminals with no respect for democracy.

If a leader cannot tolerate criticism, they are not a leader—they are a dictator. If a government cannot allow peaceful demonstrations, it is a regime of fear, not a democracy.

We, as Malawians, must rise against this oppression.

“The child who does not cry will die on his mother’s back.”

If we remain silent, MCP will take away all the freedoms we fought for. They have already shown that they do not care about justice, fairness, or the voice of the people.

We made a mistake by trusting them with power again, but “a fool is one who stumbles on a stone twice.” We must correct this mistake and ensure they are not only voted out but completely erased from Malawi’s political future.

This is not just about elections—it is about survival. MCP must not only lose power; they must be dissolved. A party that thrives on violence, intimidation, and fear has no place in a democratic society.

They are enemies of the people, enemies of progress, and enemies of Malawi’s future.

“If a tree has a rotten root, it must be uprooted before it poisons the whole garden.”

Malawians, let us stand together and say no to dictatorship, no to violence, and no to the enemies of democracy.

The blood of those who fought for our freedom cries out—we must not let their sacrifice be in vain. MCP’s time is over. The future belongs to the people, and we must reclaim our country from those who seek to enslave us once again.

My pen is mightier than a sword.
