President Dr Lazarus Chakwera has strongly condemned the acts of violence perpetuated by some people in the country and has asked the Malawi Police Service to act swiftly in bringing the culprits to justice.
It comes in the wake of violent scenes on Wednesday in Lilongwe where some individuals attacked a group that had planned a march to present a petition Parliament.

In a statement issued through his Presidential Secretary Anthony Kasunda, the Malawi leader emphasizes that holding demonstrations is a fundamental pillar of democracy that ought to be respected.
