Aspiring Member of Parliament for Dedza Boma Constituency under the flag of the ruling Malawi Congress Party-MCP, Gerald Chavez Kampanikiza has shifted the launch of his K5 million Football and Netball league from March 29th, 2025 to April 5th, 2025.
According to Kampanikiza, he has done this following a communication he has received today that Saint Louis High School in collaboration with the Dedza District Football Association ( DDFA) will hold a prize presentation ceremony for the K4 million St Louis High School Dedza District Football league for the 2024 season on the same day.
“I have to respect our district league sponsors by gracing their occasion and that is why we have shifted our league launch to next week,” Kampanikiza said.
The league which will be played for two-three months, is part of his primary election campaign promises of developing sports in the Constituency.
“I already made it clear that I am not here to just be promising people and fail to fulfill them but rather bring everything I say to reality,” he lamented.
Kampanikiza believes sports is one way of creating opportunities to the youth in line with Malawi’s 2063 vision.
It is expected that the league will be launched at Demonstration Ground, Bembeke in the area of Inkosi Kamenyagwaza.
However, he said any day from today, he will announce venue for the anticipated celebration he needs to hold with the party’s faithfuls in the Constituency based on what he promised them.
“I made another promise that once I win the primaries, I will angage all of them in one place to celebrate my victory so I will do that probably this week,” he revealed.
Over 150 0 people are expected to be part of the celebration from all zones of the constituency.
