Minister of Information, Moses Kunkuyu, has announced that the government is in negotiations to secure a $100 million facility from the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). This financial arrangement aims to ease the country’s ongoing fuel shortages and stabilize supply.

Speaking during a press briefing, Kunkuyu revealed that $21.5 million of the total amount has already been made available. These funds will facilitate the importation of 29.9 million liters of fuel, providing much-needed relief to the country’s fuel crisis.

Kunkuyu also emphasized the government’s commitment to improving logistics and transportation efficiency, noting that 20 percent of the fuel will be transported by rail. “We are ensuring that part of the imported fuel is transported by rail to enhance logistics and reduce pressure on road transport,” he said.

The announcement signals the government’s proactive measures to address the fuel challenges, while also promoting more sustainable transportation methods through rail usage.
