Over 100 people have joined the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the Hora area of Mzimba district during a meeting led by the party’s second-in-command, Jappie Mhango.

The new members, who previously belonged to various political parties, have pledged to work with the district’s Member of Parliament, Martha Ngwira, and support her in her bid for re-election.

They also committed to casting their votes for Peter Mutharika, the party’s presidential candidate, in the upcoming elections.

Jappie Mhango, together with the party’s district governor, held the political gathering in Hora, where they officially announced Martha Ngwira’s continued candidacy for re-election as the area’s Member of Parliament.

During the event, Mhango praised Ngwira’s leadership and confirmed that she would remain a strong representative for the DPP in the area, working tirelessly to ensure the party’s success.

This move marks another significant development for the DPP in the region, as it continues to attract support from people across different political backgrounds.

With the election season approaching, the DPP is positioning itself to strengthen its influence and leadership in Mzimba and beyond.

The new members expressed confidence in the DPP’s ability to bring about meaningful change, citing the leadership qualities of Peter Mutharika as a key factor in their decision to join the party.

As political dynamics continue to shift in Malawi, this gathering in Hora serves as a clear indicator of the growing momentum and support for the DPP as it prepares for the upcoming general elections.
