In a brutal and senseless act of violence, a woman’s life was cruelly cut short in the picturesque Limbuli Tea Estate in Mulanje, leaving her family and community shattered. On Wednesday, Annie Lajab, a 36-year-old resident of Maliyera village, Traditional Authority Njema, in Mulanje district, was found dead with her throat slit, and police suspect she was raped before being murdered.
According to Mulanje Police Public Relations Officer, Innocent Moses, the victim had gone to the tea estate to gather firewood, a routine task that turned into a deadly encounter with unknown assailants.
“The police are currently investigating the matter, and we are working tirelessly to hunt down the perpetrators,” said Moses.
The police report indicates that Annie Lajab’s body was discovered with severe injuries, and it is believed that she was raped before being killed.

Annie Lajab’s family and friends are still trying to come to terms with the loss of their loved one, and the police are urging anyone with information about the perpetrators to come forward.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of women in the area, particularly those who venture into isolated areas like the tea estate.
The police are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: justice must be served for Annie Lajab and her family.
