Mvama CCAP Church in Lilongwe was a scene of jubilation and unity on Sunday as Reverend Hamilton Yassin Gamah warmly welcomed UTM leader Dr. Dalitso Kabambe. The visit, marked by cheers and applause from the congregation, showcased the intersection of faith and politics in Malawi ahead of next year’s general elections.

Rev. Gamah, in his address, emphasized the critical role of unity and coexistence in fostering democracy and driving socioeconomic development. He urged all presidential candidates in the country to adopt messages that promote harmony, irrespective of political affiliations.

“Unity is the foundation of our democracy and the path to sustainable development. I encourage all leaders to prioritize messages that bring Malawians together, especially as we approach the elections,” Rev. Gamah stated.

Dr. Kabambe, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to address the congregation, lauded the church’s role in promoting peace and development in the community. He emphasized the importance of prayers for a smooth and peaceful election process.

“I am delighted to be part of this congregation today and to contribute to the church’s development. As we approach the elections, I urge the church to continue praying for peace and a successful democratic process,” Kabambe said.

In a gesture of goodwill, Kabambe donated MWK 1 million to the church to support its development projects, earning him further applause from the congregation.

The event highlighted the influential role of the church in shaping Malawi’s sociopolitical landscape. Faith leaders like Rev. Gamah continue to play a pivotal role in advocating for peace, unity, and ethical leadership during critical times.

As Malawi gears up for its next elections, moments like these, where political and religious leaders converge, underscore the need for collaboration and mutual support. Dr. Kabambe’s visit to Mvama CCAP Church and Rev. Gamah’s call for unity are a reminder that faith and politics can work hand in hand to steer the nation toward a brighter future.
