Sunganimoyo claims Chakwera is lacking effective advisors

By Vincent Gunde

An independent Presidential aspirant Isaiah Emmanuel Sunganimoyo, has claimed that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is lacking effective advisors who can provide guidance for the betterment of the country.

Sunganimoyo said some individuals are prioritizing their personal interests, misleading the president and hindering the nation’s progress urging all Malawians to exercise caution when evaluating decisions made by the country’s leaders.

He said it is essential to recognize that some policies may be driven by political agendas rather than the genuine desire to serve the people saying the recent complaints from neighboring countries such as Zambia, Mozambique and Tanzania as well as the donor community attest to the flawed policies implemented by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

In an open letter to Malawians and investors, Sunganimoyo said he is compelled to reiterate his previous warnings regarding the action taken by the Ministry of Trade and Industry led by Hon. Vitumbiko Mumba.

Sunganimoyo said these policies aimed at appeasing Malawians have disregarded the long-term consequencies for the country’s citizens and the nation saying some individuals have misinterpreted his warnings as jealousy towards the Minister Vitumbiko Mumba.

He said his intention was to emphasize the importance of considering the interests of investors and the potential repercussions of misguided policies claiming that he has been writing letters and guiding Mumba when he was appointed Labour Minister, President Chakwera and the MCP that what Mumba is doing today, will turn to be bad to the investors tomorrow.

The independent presidential aspirant said this warning has not taken long, Tanzania has banned imports and export of goods between the two countries observing that Zambia and Mozambique have done the same meaning that Malawi is found herself in total isolation due to misguided policies.

“I am blessed by God to see what is coming ahead of tomorrow, the warnings to Mumba made some other people threatening and accusing me of jealousy but, I speak justice, President Chakwera is lacking advisors who see things from far for him to take decisive actions,” reads part of Sunganimoyo’s open letter on the wall.

He said the United States of America (USA) government has made its warnings to Malawi not to do things in a hurry because of the elections coming on the 16th September, 2025 to woo support for the MCP to bounce back into government.
