Machinga District Commissioner, Rodrick Mateauma, has emphasized the importance of investing in early childhood education, urging parents and guardians in the district to enroll their children in Community-Based Childcare Centers (CBCCs). Mateauma made the remarks during a handover ceremony of seven CBCCs in Traditional Authority areas Kapoloma, Nyambi, Liwonde, Mchinguza, Nkoola, and Chikweo.
The newly constructed CBCCs, funded by the World Bank, feature modern facilities, including three classrooms, an office, hygienic toilets, and a kitchen.
Felister Giddes, chairperson of the Model CBCC committee, welcomed the development, describing it as “timely and transformative” as it will support children’s development.
Mateauma highlighted the significance of early childhood education in shaping the future of children. “Investing in early childhood education is crucial for the growth and development of our children,” he said.
He added,”By enrolling your children in CBCCs, you are giving them a solid foundation for their future academic and personal success.”
The District Commissioner emphasized that the CBCCs will provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow.
“These centers will not only provide education but also care and support to our children, allowing them to reach their full potential,” Mateauma added.
Parents and guardians in attendance expressed gratitude for the new CBCCs, saying they will greatly benefit their children. “This is a wonderful development for our community,” said one parent,, adding that,”We are thrilled that our children will have access to quality education and care in a safe environment.”
