Abida Mia Elected Unopposed as MCP Candidate for Chikwawa Mkombezi, Vows to Deliver More

Member of Parliament for Chikwawa Mkombezi, Abida Mia, has been elected unopposed as the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) candidate for the constituency ahead of the 2025 elections.

Mia, who also serves as the Minister of Water and Sanitation, confirmed the development through a post on her official Facebook page.

In her message, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to MCP delegates for the trust and confidence they have shown in her leadership.

She emphasized that her re-election as the party’s candidate is a reflection of the faith that the people of Chikwawa Mkombezi continue to place in her.

“Since then, we have worked together, achieving significant progress,” Mia wrote in reference to her ongoing partnership with the community.

She outlined several key development milestones that have been achieved during her tenure.

These include the construction of modern health clinics, the building of school blocks, and the establishment of police units in underserved areas.

Mia also highlighted the construction of bridges and the drilling of boreholes to improve access to clean and safe water.
