Social commentator and news analyst Rick Dzida has come in support of Hon. Kamlepo Kalua’s sentiments that Malawians need proactive approach to issues now with 3 months to go before the country holds the much-anticipated 16th September, 2025 elections.
Dzida said issues must come out now for solutions and not coming after the elections are held that they were rigged saying Malawians have time to put a good foundation for the elections to be free, fair, credible, open and transparency so that everyone else and those participating in the elections are convinced that these are the valid results.
He said he still have reservations on the Smartmatic machine that President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was put in power by manual system and the results were transmitted from the centres to the main Tally centre by the same system-manual, and why this time, the system is being rejected.
The analyst has asked the leadership of Mec Justice Annabel Mtalimanja and Chief Elections Officer Andrew Mpesi to show openness and transparency, saying they were appointed to those positions with a mandate to provide service to the public.
“If they don’t want the system to be manual as the case of other previous elections, they must provide good and convincing reasons to the public,” said Dzida.
He has appealed to the opposition parties to come together to have proactive approach on the Smartmatic machines so that tomorrow they should not tell Malawians that are their supporters that the elections were rigged.
Dzida has asked the opposition parties to engage the Mec leadership on the way forward for one unity, one Malawi and if they don’t agree, litigations can follow and this must be done before the 16th September, 2025 elections.
Speaking through an audio clip, Freedom Fighter and activist Hon. Kamlepo Kalua, called on leaders of the country to work towards promoting unity regardless of their political party affiliations in one Malawi, one nation saying Malawians are one people, worshipping the same God.
Kalua said Section 4,6,12, 34, 35,37,5 and 39 of the Constitution must be fully respected if the elections are to be free, fair, credible and transparent saying if the country’s Constitution is not respected, then, Malawi is in a jungle law.
He said Malawians must be protected, must enjoy the right to question something that is against their rights saying all Malawians are equal to participate in elections questioning Justice Mtalimanja and Andrew Mpesi where are they getting powers from.
The Freedom Fighter said Mec is rejecting independent ICT auditors because of the software it has put in the Smartmatic machine for transmission of results from constituency Tally centres to the National Tally centre.
“Justice Mtalimanja and Mpesi are flouting and breaching the Constitution of Malawi and have a case to answer, they have to be taken to court, they are not above the Constitution of the Republic of Malawi,” s aid Kalua.
