Media reports are indicating that the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) led government under President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera has plans to construct Dr. Saulosi Chilima’s Memorial Tower to honor his life and contributions he made while he was living on this Earthly world.
The reports say the MCP wants to hold the memorial event at Nthungwa in the Chikangawa forest, the party wants to use the event so that all family members of the departed Chikangawa forest souls attend for unity of purpose and peace in the country.
Dr. Saulosi Chilima is being remembered in the millions of Malawian hearts for advocating peace, he wanted Malawians to live in peace in all the days he was persecuted by the MCP led government over his alleged corruption charges he was answering in court.
The reports say family members of the departed souls have disagreed with government plans to conduct memorial service in Chikangawa forest and instead, they will conduct their own at Nsipe in Ntcheu district where Dr. Chilima was buried.
Social media users have accused the MCP government for the plans to honor Chilima now after his treatment which was more like an ordinary person and that the MCP forgotten that without Dr. Chilima, President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera would not have been President of the Republic of Malawi today.
Social commentator Bashir Al Bashir writing on his face book page, has expressed his surprise that the MCP government wants to construct a memorial tower at Nthungwa arguing that president Chakwera and his lieutenants have never stepped their feet at the place.
Bashir says President Chakwera was seen in the Chikangawa forest taking a picture at a tree where the country’s first President Ngwazi Dr. Hastings Kamuzu Banda planted his tree within the same premise and he failed to step his feet at a place where Dr. Chilima and others were found dead.
He said Dr. Chilima suffered in the hands of the MCP, he was fired 7 months after being elected together with President Chakwera in June, 2020 leaving behind Sam Kawale, Simplex Chithyola Banda, Sam Kandodo, and Dr. Michael Usi.
“They arrested him with no valid case, spent 2 years moving up and down in court and without his courage, he would have tested the corridors of Maula Prison,” says Bashir Al Bashir.
He says the MCP government never loved Dr. Saulosii Chilima, they failed to construct Orton Chirwa Mausoleum, Gwanda Chakuamba and Sidik Mia Highways and today, they are lying of SKC Memorial Tower.
Bashir Al Bashir has questioned President Chakwera and his MCP what kind of Memorial Service they will conduct at Nthungwa in the Chikangawa forest without family members of the departed nine souls advising them to do that with Odya zake alibe mulandu.
