An online Television station Bakili Muluzi TV, says without the Black box coming out, there will be no any other Commission of Inquiry which Malawians will accept it as true investigating the tragic death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, in the Chikangawa forest on 10th June, 2024.
Bakili Muluzi TV said even if the Germany Federal Bureau of Aircraft Accident investigation (BFU) on the plane crash that killed Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, have released their final report findings, there are still millions of questions without answers.
The TV station said three Commission of inquiries including that one which was set by President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera found the pilot Major Florence Selemani guilty saying she was not qualified and certified fit to fly the aircraft, why the MDF authorized her to fly the aircraft?
Bakili Muluzi TV has question the Germany report that how did they make a conclusion that human error made the aircraft to crash without a black box describing the whole report as nothing and is without sense.
He said the report has failed to answer the question why the aircraft was flying without flight data recorder, there was no communication system and who authorized the pilot to take off from Mzuzu Airport to Lilongwe to carry the departed Dr. Chilima and eight others, to Mzuzu.
The TV station said in the whole 59 pages of the Germany report, there is no mention of a person who authorized the pilot to land on the runway at Kamuzu International Airport and the means of communication between the pilot and Air Traffic Controllers.
Bakili Muluzi TV has reminded Malawians that on the 18th June, 2024 Minister of Information Moses Kunkuyu is on record having told Malawians that the Black box was safe and later changed his statement that the aircraft was flying without the Black box.
He said on the 13th July, 2024 the Germany team of investigations told the nation that the Black box was retrieved from Malawi’s wreckage plane saying in their final report, there is no mention of this retrieved Black box.
President Chakwera travelled to Germany and he was seen riding a bicycle claiming that this visit to Germany changed the whole report suspecting alleged corruption to have exchanged hands for the report to be half-baked truth.
“I Have a message to President Chakwera that you can hide the information surrounding the death of Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, but the truth will prevail for how long it will take,” said Bakili Muluzi TV.
Political analyst Rick Dzida giving his preliminary response to the Germans final report argued that for the sake of transparency and neutrality, independent and international investigative agencies would have been involved in the investigations to provide their Reports.
Dzida says as Malawi continues to mourn Dr. Saulosi Chilima and eight others, what they need is truth and accountability questioning the MDF decision of suspending the search operation when the plane was not yet found and MDF Commander misinforming the nation describing the suspected plane crash area as “Kokwithima kulibe midzi.”
He says Malawians are still demanding answers from President Chakwera as he is on record to have told the Malawi citizens that the ill-fated aircraft reached Mzuzu while the truth of the matter was that, the plane never reached Mzuzu Airport.
