The Alliance for Democracy (AFORD) is set to host a highly anticipated political rally at the M’gona Community Ground in Area 50, Lilongwe.
The mega rally is scheduled for Sunday, June 22, 2025, starting at exactly 1:00 PM.
Leading the charge will be the party’s President, Right Honourable Enock Kanzingeni Chihana, who is expected to deliver a keynote address on the party’s vision, strategy, and political roadmap ahead of the 2025 elections.
Joining him on the platform will be AFORD Vice President, Honourable (CR) Catherine Makunganya, who is also the party’s Shadow Member of Parliament for the area.
Also expected to address the crowd are Emmanuel Mtunga, the Shadow Councillor for BGV 1, and Ellard Chapotera, Shadow Councillor for the area, both of whom are gaining popularity among the constituents.
The M’gona Mega Rally is part of AFORD’s nationwide mobilization strategy as it repositions itself as a credible alternative in Malawi’s shifting political landscape.
Beyond the political speeches and endorsements, the rally promises to be a cultural spectacle showcasing rich traditional performances.
Among the scheduled performances are Gule Wamkulu Mzinza (Njobwa) and Gule Wamkulu wa Gogo Chinthenga, which are expected to draw significant crowds.
Entertainment will also be provided by the AFORD Band, known for energizing political events with music that speaks to party ideals and national unity.
This rally serves as a litmus test for AFORD’s grassroots strength and community engagement in Area 50, where voter loyalty is being courted by multiple political parties.
The event is branded under three key slogans: Nthawi Yakwana (The Time Has Come), Nyengo Yakwana (The Moment is Now), and Time Has Come, emphasizing urgency and renewal within the party’s campaign narrative.
As the 2025 elections draw nearer, all eyes will be on how AFORD leverages such rallies to reclaim its place in Malawi’s political scene.
With Enock Chihana at the helm, the rally is expected to not only unify supporters but also send a strong message to political competitors.
The M’gona Mega Rally is thus not merely a political event, but a declaration of intent by AFORD to re-enter the national stage with vigor, unity, and purpose.
