Dowa Police, in collaboration with the Station Executive Committee (SEC), held a strategic meeting on Thursday, July 10, at the Dowa District Council Lodge to evaluate second-quarter security operations and strengthen efforts toward a safer community.

SEC Chairperson, Bishop Peter Waya, commended the police for their unwavering dedication and professionalism. He encouraged members to consider sustainable strategies for resource mobilization to support ongoing law enforcement initiatives.

“Together, we can build a safer, more united Dowa District. We urge all residents to remain vigilant, collaborate with police, and actively participate in community safety,” he stated.

Dowa Police Officer-in-Charge Mr. Almakio Daka, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), acknowledged that the influx of new arrivals at Dzaleka Refugee Camp has posed emerging security challenges.

Nonetheless, he highlighted a 4% reduction in traffic-related incidents compared to the same period last year, reflecting improved community cooperation and proactive policing.

Daka further addressed the impact of refugee relocations and the withdrawal of UNHCR operations on local policing.

The OC added that officers have intensified collaboration with community policing structures to reinforce grassroots vigilance and enhance early reporting systems.

He concluded by emphasizing the risks associated with political violence and called on all stakeholders to uphold peace and integrity ahead of the upcoming elections.

Dowa Police reaffirmed their steadfast commitment to protecting all citizens and maintaining law and order throughout the district.
