The Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) on 12th July 2025 held a high-profile political rally at Mtonda Primary School in Ntcheu District, drawing party loyalists and senior regional leaders from across the Eastern Region.
The event was marked by the arrival of Bright Msaka, SC, who is the Vice President of the DPP for the Eastern Region.
His arrival was greeted with jubilation by party supporters who had gathered to hear the party’s vision as the 2025 general elections approach.
Also present at the rally was Daudi Chikwanje, the Regional Governor for the Eastern Region, who emphasized the need for party unity and strategic mobilization ahead of the polls.
Among other notable figures was Steven Bamusi, the Regional Director of Youth, who spoke passionately about re-energizing the youth base of the DPP in the region.
The gathering also featured Christopher Jana, Deputy National Director of Youth, who echoed calls for discipline, loyalty, and revitalized structures across party ranks.
Nkata, the Deputy Secretary General of the DPP, was in attendance and reaffirmed the party’s readiness to return to power with a people-centered agenda.
The DPP’s Regional Women’s Director, Eluby Kandewu, also addressed the crowd, urging women to actively participate in the political process and strengthen grassroots support.
The rally at Mtonda is part of a broader effort by the DPP to reconnect with voters, rebuild trust, and consolidate its structures in preparation for a strong electoral comeback.
The event was held under the rallying call #DPP_Return_to_Proven_Leadership, a slogan signaling the party’s confidence in its past governance record and its promise of restoration and stability.
With growing public discontent over the economic direction of the country, the DPP is seizing the moment to position itself as the only party with tested leadership and policy experience.
As the 2025 elections draw closer, such rallies are expected to intensify across the country as the DPP seeks to reignite its base and offer an alternative to the current administration.
